Deutsch: Pendentifkuppel der Herz-Jesu-Kirche Silikatmalerei auf Putz 1911-1913 von Friedrich Stummel. Die Verbildlichung der Apokalypse ist ein Musterbeispiel eines theologischen Konzeptes in der Pendentifkuppel der Herz-Jesu-Kirche Die Verbildlichung der geheimen Offenbarung des Johannes auf Patmos wird zum zentralen Ereignis in der Pendentifkuppel der Kirche. Im Unterschied zu den früheren Entwürfen mit einem komplizierteren Bildprogramm entstand infolge des begrenzten Kostenrahmens ein auf die Architektur angepasster Monumentalzyklus in einer beeindruckend gekonnten Klarheit. Einzelmotive der Apokalypse sind in einer malerisch inszenierten kunstvoll gegliederten Gesamtkomposition mit einer menschlichen ausdrucksstarken geformten Persönlichkeitsausprägung der Figuren der vierundzwanzig Ältesten zusammengefasst. Statt der ursprünglich vorgesehenen Einzeldarstellungen der vierundzwanzig Ältesten wird eine Gruppierung von zwölf Paaren mit weißen Kleidern in eine kreisförmige räumlichere Darstellung umgesetzt, in dem die nach hinten gesetzte Figur des Doppelporträts zum Teil verdeckt ist. Orientiert gestikulierend schreiten die vierundzwanzig Ältesten mit der Krone in den Händen zum Lamm Gottes und legen diese vor dem Thron verehrend nieder. Den Thron flankieren sieben goldene Leuchter mit brennenden Kerzen. Das allegorisch bedeutendste Bildfeld der Kuppel, mit dem Thron, dem Lamm auf dem Buch mit den sieben Siegeln und der Kreuzfahne, ist analog zur Christusdarstellung in der Chorapsis von einer regenbogenfarbenen kreisförmigen Mandorla eingefasst. Ein weiteres Motiv dieser apokalyptischen Version, die vier geflügelten Wesen, die vier Evangelisten - Löwe, Stier, Mensch und Adler sind um die Schlusssteinöffnung der Kuppel kreisförmig positioniert. Einbezogen in das Gesamtgestaltungskonzept sind gegenübergestellt auf den sechzehn sich nach oben verjüngenden Bildflächen zwischen den Rundbogenfenstern der Pendentifkuppel acht gemalte unterschiedliche Ornamente mit Symbolen. Auf der Putzfläche des einzigen Blindfensters der Kuppel flankieren zwei in leuchtenden Farben gemalte Pfauen einen siebenarmigen Leuchter. Diese Versinnbildlichung assoziiert die Auferstehung, die Unsterblichkeit und die sieben Gaben des Heiligen Geistes.
