Description
Deutsch: Hohenlimburg, Herrenstraße 14 (ehem. Horst-Wessel-Straße, Wohn- und Geschäftshaus, in den 1970er Jahren abgerissen). Stolperstein für Emilie (Emmy) Schönebaum geb. Mond (22.07.1888–1942). Emmy Schönebaum gehörte die Firma Louis Schönebaum, Kaufhaus für Manufaktur- und Modewaren. Nach dem frühen Tod ihres Mannes (1919) war später Hugo Loewenstein Inhaber des Geschäfts. Mitte der 1930er Jahre wohnte Emmy Schönebaum in der Elberfelder Straße in Hagen. 1938 wurde die eingetragene Firma L.Schönebaum vom Amt zwangsgelöscht. Tochter Lotte (1913–2007) verließ Hohenlimburg schon 1931 und wanderte mit ihrem Verlobten Perez Chaim 1935 nach Palästina aus. Im Jahre 1938 besuchte Emmy Schönebaum sie dort, kehrte aber zurück und wurde 1942 von ihrem Elternhaus in Werl aus deportiert und ermordet. – Einen Einblick in die damalige Situation vermitteln zahlreiche überlieferte Briefe der Emmy Schönebaum an die nach Palästina ausgewanderte Tochter.
