English: Former observation tower on top of the "Hoher Mechtin", highest altitude of the hilly region "Drawehn" between Hamburg and Berlin (North German Lowland). The tower was built in 1971 and 22 meters in height. In March 2013, the delapidated building was blown up. A new tower has been built in 2015.
Deutsch: Ehemaliger Feuerwachtturm und Aussichtsturm auf dem "Gipfel" des Hohen Mechtin, dem höchsten Punkt auf dem Drawehn-Höhenzug im Wendland. Der 1971 errichtete, ca. 22 Meter hohe Turm war seit Frühjahr 2011 wegen Baufälligkeit gesperrt und wurde im März 2013 gesprengt. Ein acht Meter höherer Neubau wurde im Juli 2015 eingeweiht. |
