English: Old garden column at Kerssen-Brons House, 1 Market Place (Marktplatz 1) in Hopsten, Kreis Steinfurt, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is a listed cultural heritage monument.
Deutsch: Gartensäule am Haus Kerssen-Brons, Marktplatz 1 in Hopsten, Kreis Steinfurt, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland. Die aus Sandstein gearbeitete Säule mit Kugelaufsatz stammt aus der Zeit um 1800. Der Schaft ist zur Hälfte kanneliert, den oberen Teil ziert ein Zopfstilmotiv als hängende Girlande. Laut Denkmalliste ist die Gartensäule kulturgeschichtlich „ein wichtiges Zeugnis gehobener ländlicher Gartengestaltung“. Die Säule steht als „profanes Denkmal“ seit 1988 unter Denkmalschutz. Im Zuge der grundlegenden Sanierungs- und Umbauarbeiten am und im Haus Kerssen-Brons wurde sie im Jahr 2015 von der Brenninkmeyerstraße an den Marktplatz versetzt. Im Gegensatz zu früher ist das Kleinod zwar nun nicht mehr versteckt, sondern sehr prominent aufgestellt, dadurch aber auch möglichen Gefahren etwa durch den Verkehr auf der Landesstraße ausgesetzt.
