Description
English: Members of Human Terrain Teams, representing five brigades and sheiks from the Taji Qada, northwest of Baghdad, pose for a picture at the Command Sgt. Maj. Cooke Dining Facility on Camp Taji after the first HTT conference, May 9. The HTT program, conceptualized in late 2003 and first fielded in 2007, embeds social scientists with combat brigades in Iraq and Afghanistan to help troops understand relevant cultural history, engage locals and incorporate knowledge about tribal traditions in conflict resolution.
