Summary
[edit]DescriptionHymenochaete curtisii (Berk.) Morgan 855267.jpg |
Hymenochaete curtisii (Berk.) Morgan Image location: Tallassee Highlands, Clarke Co., Georgia, USA Microscopy and ID by Django Grootmyers. Dimitic. Skeletal hyphae brown. Generative hyphae seemed mostly simple septate. Setae were present but concentrated in patches in the brown areas. The gray areas had far fewer setae. Basidia 4-spored. Spores hyaline, allantoid and smooth. Hyphidia present but not branched — some curved. This seems to be a decent match for H. curtisii microscopically but I couldn’t find mention of the contrasting gray and brown areas in the literature on that species.
