Description |
English: Seattle held its first world's fair, the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition (AYPE) in 1909. The fair promoted the region's growth and prosperity that had begun with the 1897 arrival of the first shipment of Yukon gold. "I'll Meet You In Seattle '19 and 9'" was but one of the songs written at the time to promote the AYPE. Only the covers of the sheet music survive. The front cover shows two stylized totem poles and an aerial view of the fairgrounds at the University of Washington. A letter from the composer, J. Berni Barbour, to AYPE President J.E. Chilberg, and the citizens of Seattle and Washington state is printed inside the front cover. Additional verses to the original song are printed inside the back cover. J. Berni Barbour wrote the music and words, and he also published the sheet music in Seattle. It was printed by Liberal Printing Company of Seattle.Handwritten on front: Nivia Sullivan
