Title
IOW-AF4617 Post-Medieval Candlestick Holder
Description
English: An incomplete post-Medieval cast copper-alloy candlestick holder (1530-1650 AD).

The cup is circular and hollow and decorated with two circumferential grooves close to the rim. The cup has parallel sides. Below the cup, the stem tapers to an angled collar below which there is a short length of stem with an irregular break.

The rim has a break and the outer surface has a dark green patina with some areas of corrosion. The breaks are old.

A similar example can be seen in Egan 2005: 81, ref: 337 which is dated c. 1530 - 1650 and described as 'a common and apparently long-lived form in London'.

Compare with Portable Antiquities Scheme find: LIN-AB0BB1.
