DescriptionIgreja de Santos-o-Velho - Lisboa - Portugal (53454579780).jpg | Sobre os vestígios de um presumível templo tardoromano do século IV, dedicado aos santos mártires Veríssimo, Máxima e Júlia, foi edificada nova igreja em 1147. Mas são as intervenções de 1696 pelo arq. João Antunes - torres sineiras, frontespício e púlpito - e as obras de restauro em 1861 e 1876 que lhe conferiram o perfil que hoje conhecemos. Trata-se de uma igreja cuja fachada principal, de um só corpo, ladeada por duas torres sineiras e rematada por frontão triangular vazado por janela iluminante, surge rasgada, a eixo, por um portal de arco abatido fechado por grade de ferro, de acesso à galilé, encimado por um relevo dos santos mártires, orago da igreja, e por um janelão emoldurado a cantaria lavrada e coroado de ática. Na galilé, para além da porta principal, temos o acesso à Capela dos Santos Mártires, onde se crê estar a sepultura dos mesmos. O interior da igreja, coberto por falsa abóboda de berço em madeira pintada e dourada, apresenta nave única aberta a 6 capelas laterais (3 de cada lado), à Capela de Nª Senhora da Conceição do lado direito do arco triunfal e à Capela do Santíssimo Sacramento. Na capela-mor profunda, evidencia-se a pedra de armas dos marqueses de Abrantes, os quais cederam o terreno para a construção da capela-mor, ficando com acesso às tribunas laterais da mesma através do seu palácio contíguo ao templo.
