Description

A Igreja e Convento do Salvador foram fundados neste local no princípio do século XVII, numa parte do palácio dos Condes de Sortelha.

O Convento foi em grande parte demolido em 1942, procedendo-se à abertura da Rua da Olivença e construção do edifício dos CTT. Subsistiu apenas a torre da Cerca Velha e o claustrim contíguo, adaptados a sede da Direção Regional dos Monumentos do Sul. A Igreja foi inaugurada em 1610 e tem no seu interior silhares de azulejo policromos, onde são particularmente curiosos os frontais de altar, do tipo indo-português, de cerca de 1650.
