Title
Incomplete cast copper alloy buckle pin of Early Early-Medieval, fifth or sixth century date (AD 450 - AD 600).
Description
English: Incomplete cast copper alloy buckle pin of Early Early-Medieval, fifth or sixth century date (AD 450 - AD 600). Length 29mm, maximum width 11.5mm and 4mm thick. Weight 5.53g.

The upper face of the plate is convex with a rounded outer end and is "waisted" at the centre. It has a shaft which is D-shaped in cross-section and tapers to to form a blunt tip. The tip curves down. On the flat reverse there is the remains of an integral loop and along the longitudinal centre-line is a pronounced casting seam. There is no apparent wear on the underside of the tip. No evidence for tinning, melting or burning. The pin is worn and in a stable condition. It has a mid-green patina overall with iron staining in the vicinity of the loop.
