Title
Incomplete copper alloy post-medieval spur, probably 16th-18th century.
Description
English: 17th century copper alloy complete spur frame, with the remains of an iron rowel. The arms are angled outwards like a wishbone rather than the more familiar horseshoe shape, in order to fit the back of the riding boot, and it appears it would have been for a small foot. Each 'arm' ends in a rounded, double looped terminal in a figure of eight shape. The neck is slightly curved (upwards) with the small remains of an iron rowel corroded to the top.
