Title
Iron-Age or Roman mount or stud
Description
English: A cast copper-alloy mount or stud of unknown function. The object is conical in plan with a sub-circular base and rounded tip. There is a circumferential groove running around the object approximately 3.5mm from the base. Cut into the centre of the base is a square hole with iron staining suggesting that this was the means of attachment using an iron fixing. The patination and style of the object suggest an Iron Age -Roman date and that fits with other objects found at the site. It measures 13.25mm in height with a basal diameter of 19mm. It weighs 12.92g.
