Iron Age/Roman cosmetic set
Description
English: Finely cast and engraved Roman copper alloy centre-looped cosmetic set: mortar with moulded zoomorphic terminals with incised detail, a trefoil loop with three perforations, and the broad groove bordered on both faces by a deep groove above a line of fine oblique cross-hatching. The terminal is probably bovid, Jackson 2010, Type E. Length 57mm. Height 26mm. Thickness 9mm. Weight 20.41g; centre-loop pestle of triangular 'rocking-horse' type with struts supporting a loop, projecting C-shapes forming shoulders at the junction between struts and loop. The keel is rounded. Length 37mm. Height 27mm. Thickness 5.5mm. Weight 6.83g. c.43 - c.300 AD.
