Iron Age toggle
Description
English: An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman (c.100-c.200 AD) button and loop fastener, with a long shank terminating in an old break. Origiinly, there would have been a loop at the end of the shank. The head is bevelled, semi-circular in section, and roughly lozenge-shaped when laid flat, with a rounded tip at each opposite end and a central circular perforation. There is a raised oval mound at each tip. The shank is roughly triangular in cross-section. The reverse is flat and undecorated. The object has a green patina. Overall the object measures 31.13mm long, 16.08mm wide and 4.09mm thick. It weighs 4.31g
