Summary[edit]

Description
English: Map of Köppen climate classification system for Italy according to Mario Pinna. Note: Pinna did not consider Csa and Csb original definitions by Wladimir Köppen (i.e. letter s for climates with at least one month among June, July and August which has ⅓ of rain amount of the rainiest among December, January and February and in any case less than 30 mm), but the concept of "summer dry month" (summer month with less than 30 mm of rain) according to the Italian Hydrographic Service data; some areas of Northern Italy and Central Italy appear as Csa and Csb which, according to a rigorous application of the Köppen system, would have appeared as Cfa and Cfb and, as far as Tuscany is concerned, would have provoked a "mosaic" effect, the region being just on the border between Csa, Cfsa and Cfa.
