Deutsch: »Offener (umwandelbarer) Sommerbeiwagen« der Leipziger Elektrischen Straßenbahn, städtischer Typ 54I. Die LESt konnte nicht auf vorhandene Pferdebahnwagen zurückgreifen und musste daher sofort Neubaubeiwagen beschaffen.Sommerbeiwagen waren vor der Jahrhundertwende bei vielen Betrieben üblich. Stirnwände gab es gar nicht und die offenen Seiten konnten bei Regen durch Vorhänge verschlossen werden. Nach der Jahrhundertwende zeigte sich, dass ein ganzjähriger Einsatz doch nicht zu vermeiden war. Dafür erhielten die Wagen 1906 und 1907 Plattformtrennwände und herausnehmbare Seitenfenster, die ab 1915 ganzjährig eingebaut blieben. Nach dem ersten Weltkrieg wurden die Wagen erst abgestellt, dann wurden sie doch noch mit Druckluftbremse an den GLSt-Bestand angepasst und bis 1926 eingesetzt. Danach wurden sie noch einige Jahre als Endstellenunterkünfte genutzt und schließlich verkauft. Der vorhandene Wagen ist ein Zufallsfund, er war in eine Gartenlaube eingebaut. Wiederaufgebaut wurde er für den Einsatz mit den übrigen Museumswagen mit Druckluftbremse und damit nicht vollständig im Lieferzustand. |
