Summary

[edit]
Description Jack and Jill Hill, Kilmersdon, Somerset, 15 October 2017. The inspiration for the famous nurser rhyme. Apparently, Jill was an unmarried girl who became pregnant by Jack in 1697. Jack was killed by a falling rock in the local quarry whilst Jill gave birth but died soon afterwards! Such is the inspiration for nursery rhymes. Pictured is the top of the hill and the well (allegedly). It is said that 'Jill's son' led to the local surname Gilson.
