De Sturm und Drang dichter Jakob Lenz (1751-1792) was met zijn toneelstukken 'Der Hofmeister' en 'Die Soldaten' een van de belangrijkste theatervernieuwers van de vroege Duitse romantiek. Lenz werd eerst bewonderd als een genie, later veracht als een gek. Zijn verward en schizofreen leven heeft steeds tot de verbeelding van andere schrijvers gesproken. Georg Büchner beschreef hem uitvoerig in de novelle 'Lenz', waarbij hij zich vooral concentreerde op de innerlijke gemoedstoestand van de dichter. Deze 'psychiatrische reconstructie' van Büchner vormde op haar beurt weer de basis voor de compositie van Wolfgang Rihm. De intense dramatische verdichting wordt vertaald in een sobere en intelligente regie van Caroline Petrick. Een Belgisch-Argentijnse samenwerking. D'abord, Lenz fut admiré en tant que génie, mais plus tard, il fut taxé de fou. Sa vie chaotique et schizophrène a toujours frappé l'imagination d'autres écrivains. Georg Büchner le décrit longuement dans sa nouvelle 'Lenz', en s'y concentrant surtout sur l'état d'âme intérieur du poète. Cette 'reconstruction psychiatrique' de Büchner servit à son tour de base pour la composition de Wolfgang Rihm. L'intensité dramatique est traduite dans une mise en scène intelligente et sobre de Caroline Petrick. Une collaboration belgo-argentine.
