English: Photographic portrait of James Larmer, government surveryor.

Larmer was an early surveyor in NSW. He is also remembered for recording words of Aboriginal languages. Larmer was active as a surveyor between 1830 and 1859. He died in 1886.

This image is a cropped version of a digital image from the collection of the State Library of NSW. The precise date of the copying of the older image is unknown but had to be during the active years of William Johnson (photographer) which puts it before the end of 1921. The original image was made before July 1886, as Larmer died in June of that year.
