Description Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force Landing Craft, Air Cushioned (LCAC) 2104 returns to her ship after leaving the well deck of the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) while under way in the Philippine Sea Nov. 14, 2009, during a cross-decking exercise for Annual Exercise. The combined exercise between U.S. and Japanese naval forces is designed to improve military relationships between the two nations and improve surface, air and undersea warfare capabilities.
