Scanned from a colour slide taken on 30 May, 1970. John J. Hills of Wollongong unregistered AEC Regent (ex Department of Road Transport and Tramways No 1671) (DRT&T) in cut down form and Leyland Comet 6306 in the depot yard, Glebe Street, Wollongong, N.S.W. Australia. The unregistered AEC Regent in cut down form had a body built by Waddingtons of Granville, N.S.W in 1940. The bus was sold from the DRT&T in 9-1961 to J. Hill of Fairy Meadow, Wollongong and reregistered m/o 6012. On 11-1961 it was transferred to John J. Hill of Wollongong and reregistered m/o 6312 until deregistered in 1969. When photographed in 1970 parts of the body were reclaimed to rebuild the top deck of Leyland OPD2 (ex DRT&T 2097) and the remains scrapped. Leyland Comet 6306 had a body built by John J Hill and completed on 22-10-1965. Also to be seen but primarily obscured are two other double decker buses. |
