Description
English:
Saint Michael the Archangel church. Nicknamed as fort church because it has defensive wall with portholes around the church. The middle of the 13th century church was extended at the end of the 14th century with a two-nave square at the west end. Between 1411 and 1426 Lőrinc Tari had the church enlarged. - It was completely rebuilt at the end of the 18th century. In 1804 the new sacristy was built- In the middle of the 19th century the portico in front of the tower. Murals: on the north and south walls of the nave, around 1370; on the sanctuary lobes first quarter of the 15th century. Furnishings: mostly 19th-20th centuries,but the side altar: 17th century; the pulpit: 18th century works. Organ: 1867 (Nándor Komornyik). Passed by the 250km long 'purple' or the 'Franciscan' Way of Mary walking/spiritual walkway (marked with purple 'm'), also passed by blau ▙ walkway - Petőfi Street, Tar, Nógrád County, Hungary.
