Description

Wall memorial to Richard Clarck d. 1602 aged 67. The memorial is alabaster with an altar, on which kneel Richard and wife Sarah, figures of offspring peeping out behind them. Under the altar is recumbent figure of Richard's first wife Joan d.1587. The monument also comemmorates their son Matthew d. 1623. He was a Searcher (inspecting cargoes) and tax collector, probably originally from London.

He had two sons and five daughters. He was mayor 1583-4 and also M.P.
