Русский: Тимбукту, основанный около 1100 года как центр торговли в районе Сахары, также являлся крупнейшим центром исламского образования, начиная с XIV века и далее. В библиотеках Тимбукту хранилось множество важных рукописей, выполненных в различных стилях арабского письма, которые записывались и переписывались книжниками и учеными Тимбукту. Рукописи являются самым известным и наиболее ценным вкладом города в исламскую и мировую цивилизацию. В основе данной коллекции документов (дата неизвестна) лежит греко-римское наследие в области астрономии с добавлением открытий, сделанных мусульманскими учеными. Les bibliothèques de Tombouctou contiennent de nombreux manuscrits importants, dans des types d'écriture différents de la langue arabe, qui ont été écrits et copiés par les scribes et les érudits de Tombouctou. Ces ouvrages représentent la contribution la plus connue et durable de la ville à la civilisation islamique et mondiale. Ce recueil de textes (de date inconnue) s'inspire de l'héritage de l'astronomie gréco-romaine, avec l'ajout des découvertes effectuées par des savants musulmans. These works constitute the city’s most famous and long-lasting contribution to Islamic and world civilization. This collection of writings (date unknown) draws upon the Greco-Roman legacy of astronomy, with the addition of discoveries made by Muslim scholars. The text is presented in the form of a Platonic discourse. It includes an explanation of how to determine which star is ascendant and what that portends for the world.
