Lady's head
Photographer

Title
Lady's head
Description
English: A Roman copper alloy steelyard weight in the form of a female head. Her chin, forehead and the edge of her piled up hairdo are delineated. She has a lunate headdress which has a hole through the centre. Other features and details have been worn off. The back of her head has the faint shape of a bun but is similarly worn. The neck of the lady ends in the tab shaped, broken edge, rather than the shoulders. There is a hole, for suspension through her headdress. The whiteish deposit outlining the head and headdress may be the remains of tinning or silvering. The surfaces are very worn and pitted.
