Description
English:

Melvin Albert (Bert) Weed (1882-1964) began in the pharmacy business in 1898 as a clerk at the Bartell Drug Company. After college he partnered with Albert G. Keene (1854-1924) and worked as a pharmacist at Lake Washington Pharmacy. In 1906, Bert married Keene's daughter Mamie Luella Keene (1881-1970), and they had one daughter, Luell (Weed) Guthrie (1910-1987). Lake Washington Pharmacy became Weed's Pharmacy in 1910, operating in the same Central District location until Bert's retirement in 1958. The Weed family was well-known in the Seattle community thanks to Bert's involvement in many community associations, including the Freemasons, the Nile Temple, and the Sons of the American Revolution. This business card is for Lake Washington Pharmacy, located at 2711 Jackson Street, the pharmacy's location for over 50 years. The card has both A. G. Keene and M. A. Weed listed so it was likely printed around 1905.
