Summary

[edit]
Description

A large alternative vertical aperture has been painted on the door. The house in the back ground (across the border in N16) may be seen in this Edwardian photographic postcard.

This is a large Type A anonymous cylindrical letter box, introduced in 1879, and in production until 1887 when the VR Royal Cipher was added. However, after 1883, the aperture was found lower, between the bands. This is an earlier one from the start of the 1880s.
