Summary[edit]

Description On a hill above Po Lin monastery is the 34m high Tian Tan statue (the biggest bronze, seated Buddha outdoors statue of the world). A large bell within the Buddha rings 108 times during the day to symbolize the "108 escapes from the mankind". It it well worth climbing the 260 steps to see the Bodhisattvas, the museum containing old paintings and ceramics of the Buddha's life and enjoy the amazing view from the podium.
