late Early Medieval Buckle
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy buckle dating to the late Early Medieval period with close parallels that have been dated to the 9th-12th centuries. The buckle is D shaped in plan, with a thick curved section and a narrow offset bar. Either side of the bar sub rectangular projections. The pin has been lost and is no longer present. The object has traces of silver remaining on the surface, but is otherwise copper alloy which is a mottled green/brown colour. It weighs 3.4g and measures 17.04mm in length and 15.37mm in width.
