Late Saxon stirrup mount
Description
English: An Anglo-Scandinavian stirrup strap mount manufactured from cast copper alloy and dating from the late 10th-early 11th centuries (c. 900-1100). The mount is sub-triangular in shape with a loop at the apex and a single drilled rivet hole in the base. The upper face of the object is decorated with an interlace pattern and has a zoomorphic apex terminal. This mount appears to conform to Williams 'Class A' type, and is similar to no. 376 depicted in 'Late Saxon Stirrup Strap Mounts'.
