Title
Leg fragment of a Medieval candlestick
Description
English: Copper alloy leg, possibly of a 15th century tripod type candlestick. This type of candlestick would have had a flat disc base with three short footed legs and a round, hexagonal or octagonal socket. They are thought to come from Normandy or adjacent areas. The English derivative is without legs (Brownswood, FRG Datasheet 1).

The object is covered in a green patina and weighs 15.43g. The leg is regtangular in cross section, 16mm long and 12mmx7mm where it joins the base and 10x6mm where it joins the foot. The foot is likewise rectangular in cross section and undecorated. It is 9mm long. The vessel body is 1.5mm thick and has a rim.

For comparisons, see object 1, Brownswood, FRG 1; Object 426, Egan (1998), although the latter is decorated.
