Hind Kusht Nivaran Sangh (Indian Leprosy Association) was founded in 1925 with the name of Indian Council of British Empire Leprosy Relief Association (BELRA). After the independence of India, the Indian Council of BELRA was renamed the Hind Kusht Nivaran Sangh (Indian Leprosy Association), which came into being on 19 August 1949.
