Notes Part of the Charles Ramsden Collection of Signed Bindings. Lower cover. Macchi states; second quarter century, Paris, bound by Henri Frédéric Barba, fils aîné. Between 1837-1843, Barba advertised himself as having 2000 samples bindings on display. His addresses were successively: St. Jacques 38 and Vivienne 1 (1837); St Hyacinthe 8 and Vivienne 1 (1838); Sorbonne 4 (1842). See C. Ramsden, French bookbinders, p. 24.
