Description
English: Lead

Fishing Line Weight. Neatly cast flat tapered weight with curved top and an apical perforation of diameter 1.8mm apparently drilled from both sides, an operation which has left the edges of the aperture lightly countersunk. Patinated overall. The form resembles that of the much larger stone sinkers used with nets along the River Thames and its tributaries. Suggested date: Medieval, 1200-1500.

Length: 20.9mm, Width: 18.2mm, Thickness: 4.5mm, Weight: 13.26gms.
