Notes Bound in Paris by Etienne Roffet for Francois I, c. 1542. Traces of 2 pairs of ties. Edges gilt and gauffered with curving lines and decorative pattern. Provenance, Le Comet de Ligherolles, book plate of Robert Hoe, Lardanchet catalogue 45 (1951), 866. An interlacing rectangle and lozenge and arabesque tooling: arms of Francis I, salamander, crowned F's and fleur-de-lys by the binder of the Estienne Bible.
