Photograph appears to have been first published in the Nashville Banner: "Piano Concert". 17 October 1947. Nashville, Tennessee: The Nashville Banner. p 40 but neither the publishing information nor masthead indicate an author or copyright. Verifying further, the better image used from the Austin American also lists no copyright or author in the publishing information or masthead. As an extra precaution, verified in the Catalog of copyright entries. Ser.3 pt.7-11A v.1-3 1947-1949 Arts that there were no items copyrighted between 1947 and 1949 having to do with Towles.
