English: Looking northwest from 12th Ave. and Weller St. showing regrade work and city, September 23, 1908 |
|||||||||||||||||||||||
Description |
English: PH Coll 1319.8 Inscription at lower left refers to "Lewis & Wiley," who were a hydraulic contracting firm; later Lewis, Wiley & Morse. Clarence Bagley's history of Seattle mentions them as contractors on the Jackson Street Regrade. The tower of King Street Station can be seen just right of center in the distance, so the view is basically looking west on Weller and is only very slightly north of west. Weller no longer goes through: this view would now be interrupted by Interstate 5. |
