o pursue tlie investigation, may consult a valuable paper of Mr.Woodhouse, published in the Philosophical Transactions of London for 1801, in which thissubject is fully discussed. Ira Berry and Lucius A. Thomas, compositors. Considerable pains have been talcen to print this volume as correctly as possible ; butseveral errors of the press have been discovered, by a young friend who has read the workbefore the publication. Most of these mistakes have been corrected with a pen. The readeris requested to make the following additions and alterations, Page 43, line 2, for by read through. Page 47, line 9, for proportional to read equal to. Page 55, (82a), in IT. (n,0,9), the factor A.(0,9) ought to be in the denominator. Page 98, (143^), rea<?, d(f=-S:m.(P.dx+(^.dij-\-R.dz). Page 133, line 14, read, homogeneous cylinder, of an elliptical base. There may be other mistakes, which have been passed over without notice, as it is extremelydifficult to print a work of this kind free from error.
