Caption: "Predecessor of the M48, and standard equipment today in the armies of 21 countries, the M47 is a descendent of the M26 Pershing Tank. Although it entered service in 1951 the M47 did not see combat in Korea. Armed with a 90mm gun, a crew of five and a loaded weight of 50 tons, the M47 has a top speed of 37 mph and a range of 80 miles. This M47 was built by the American Locomotive Company and the Detroit Tank Arsenal of the Chrysler Corporation. The M47 was named in honor of General George S. Patton."
