Een smuiger is een tegelschouw waarvan de achterwand aan de bovenkant naar voren welft. Dit soort schouwen treft men aan in de Zaanstreek. Deze komt uit een huis van een beurtschipper in Zaandijk. In de smuiger bevinden zich 278 bijbeltegels, geschilderd naar de bijbelprenten uit Jan Luiken's `Schriftelijke Geschiedenissen en Gelijkenissen' (Amsterdam, 1712). Er zijn 108 tegels met voorstellingen uit het Oude Testament en 112 uit het Nieuwe Testament. De overige 58 tegels zijn dubbelexemplaren. Bij het zetten van de tegels in de schouw werd niet de volgorde van het bijbelverhaal aangehouden. Mede door de gedetailleerde voorstellingen van de tegels kan deze smuiger uniek genoemd worden.
