FOV 4.5 x 6.8 mm. Found Sept 2000. MOB coll.
This is a close-up of a specimen from the same finds as File:Makatite-164563.jpg and File:Makatite, Zakharovite, Natrolite-255464.jpg
In this case the makatite is almost entirely fibrous. But it does have a hint of the “sea-green” color seen in some of the larger blades of the other specimens. I posted it to show that makatite can look very similar to fibrous pectolite. Pectolite is actually rare at STA. But almost every “makatite” specimen that I have seen from MSH is actually pectolite. The ones from igneous breccia are particularly insidious. But if your “makatite” isn't from a sodalite xenolith or marble xenolith, it's probably not makatite. (Makatite sometimes fluoresces greenish SW; pectolite pink/violet best LW.)
This specimen is from a hydrothermalite and was associated with varennesite, zakharovite, yofortierite, eudialyte, natrolite and sphalerite.
