English: Infrared image of Hurricane Maria's frigid cloud top temperatures, captured over the Lesser Antilles by the MODIS instrument aboard NASA's Aqua satellite on Sept. 19 at 2:15 a.m. EDT (0615 UTC), as it moved through the Leeward Islands (the eye is still near Dominica that it traversed, and the island of Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe that it approched on its western coast), after having crossed the Windward Islands from the South-East (though Barbados that it devastated, and very near the eastern coast of Martinique; it also passed to the North-East of Saint Lucia ; all these islands all visible here and still under heavy storm conditions). |
