Title
English: Mayor-Elect George F. Cotterill dinner menu, Seattle, March 15, 1912
Description
English:

George Cotterill was elected Mayor of Seattle in 1912, after working as Assistant City Engineer and holding other public offices. A dinner welcoming Cotterill and other elected city officials was hosted by the New Seattle Chamber of Commerce on March 15, 1912, at the New Washington Hotel. The menu lists the courses to be served at a dinner and is headed by a photo of the Seattle skyline. The menu features salmon, chicken, and somewhat ironically given his support of the Prohibition movement, Sautern wine. George Cotterill was Mayor during a time of labor unrest but attempted to suppress vice in Seattle and corruption in the Seattle Police Department. He did not seek re-election in 1914 and was appointed Chief Engineer of the state highway department in 1916, and in 1922 was elected to the Seattle Port Commission for the first of four terms.
