Summary[edit]

Description

c/n 2746. Built 1967 for the US Navy as ‘155529’. Operated with VF-74 in the Vietnam War theatre in 1972/73 aboard the USS America. After a period in store at MASDC (now AMARG) at Davis Monthan, it was reworked into an F-4J(UK) and in 1984 it was delivered to Wattisham in Suffolk for RAF service as ‘ZE359’. It then flew with 74sqn coded ‘J’. Upon retirement in 1991 it was flown to Duxford to join the IWM, where it was returned to it’s genuine US Navy colours from the Vietnam era. During the refurbishment of the American Air Museum, the Phantom is temporarily housed in Hangar 3 (or Hangar 84, as it used to be) Imperial War Museum, Duxford, Cambridgeshire, UK.
