Notes | War Medal 1939-45 to Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Rodney Park, WW2 As Senior Air Staff Officer at HQ Fighter Command Keith Park participated in the preparation of Britain's air defence system of Fighter, Bomber and Coastal Commands. In April 1940 he became Air Officer Commanding No. 11 Group, Fighter Command, where he organised fighter patrols during the Dunkirk evacuation. After the Battle of Britain he was transferred to overall command of the RAF in Malta in 1941-42, and later to North Africa and Sicily. Keith Park's final and highest posting was as Allied Commander-in-Chief of South East Asia in 1945. In this capacity he was present at the formal Japanese surrender ceremony aboard USS Missouri. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
