Notes South African Campaign Medal 1834-53 Medal awarded to Archibald Annett, Royal Artillery. Archibald Annett was born in the parish of Ballymore, County Armagh, Ireland. He enlisted with the Royal Artillery in 1847, and served with the regiment until 1872. He served in South Africa, the Crimea (1854-55) and was on garrison duty in Australia before coming to New Zealand, circa 1863. Following his discharge in 1872 his family joined him in New Zealand. He died on 1st January 1875 aged 47 years.
