English: Punjab Campaign Medal, 7th September 1846-14th March 1849 Medal awarded to Ensign WH Smith, 15th Bengal Native Infantry. silver medal; two bars; ornamental swiveling suspender; with ribbon obverse- diademed head of Queen Victoria with the legend VICTORIA REGINA reverse- Major-General Sir Walter Gilbert on horseback receiving the surrender of the Sikhs; in the background is a hill with a large palm tree on it; inscription around top- TO THE ARMY OF THE PUNJAB; dated in exurgue- MDCCCXLIX bars- CHILIANWALA - GOOJERAT ribbon- dark blue with yellow stripe near each edge named on edge- ENSIGN W.H.
