English: Mercantile Marine War Medal 1914-18, WW1 awarded to Edward M.C. Kay silver medal medal, 36mm diameter, straight fixed suspension, with ribbon, obverse- bareheaded effigy of King George V facing left, with the legend "GEORGIVS V BRITT- OMN- REX ET IND- IMP-" reverse- steamship ploughing through heavy seas, submarine sinking on portside and sailing ship in the background. The exergue is inscribed, "FOR•WAR•SERVICE - MERCANTILE•MARINE - •1914–1918•". Enclosing the image is a laurel wreath. ribbon- grosgrain ribbon, 32mm wide, green, white, then red bands of colour. inscribed on edge- EDWARD MC KAY
