Bars for Cape Colony, Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith and Transvaal. silver medal; four bars; plain straight swivelling suspender; with ribbon obverse- crowned and veiled head of Queen Victoria and legend VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX reverse- Britannia with a flag in her left hand and holding out a laurel wreath in her right towards an advancing party of soldiers; in the background are two warships; below the wreath, in two lines- 1899-1900 in relief; around top- SOUTH AFRICA Four bars- CAPE COLONY - TUGELA HEIGHTS - RELIEF OF LADYSMITH - TRANSVAAL ribbon- red with two dark blue stripes and a broad orange central stripe named on edge- 3622 CORL.
